SMS Sender ID Registration

From 1 July, changes to SMS Sender IDs are coming into effect across Australia. If you’re sending SMS to supporters - whether regularly or just during campaigns - if you don't have a registered Sender ID with ACMA then you may be impacted.

WHat are the requirements for Alphanumeric sender Ids?

Alphanumeric sender IDs must be 2-11 characters long and contain at least one letter. They should represent your business or service name and comply with ACMA guidelines.

Can I use any Name as my Sender Id?

No, your sender ID should be related to your organisation name or service. Using misleading or unrelated sender IDs may violate ACMA regulations and result in rejection.

Where can I find my organisation's ABN?

You can find your ABN on your business registration documents, tax returns, or by searching the Australian Business Register at abr.business.gov.au

How do I find out who is the principal authority or authorised administrator?

If you don't know who the principal authority or authorised administrator of your organisation is we suggest contacting your:

a) Finance/Legal Team - They usually register the business for tax/ABN and lodge details with the ATO/ABR so should know who is listed as the entity contacts, business owner and responsible officers.

b) Company Secretary/ Office offical - Usually responsible for corporate records, registers, and compliance so should know who is officially listed. 

c) Current Directors/ Shareholders/ Founders - A founder/ director / shareholder with oversight of corporate governance often sets up the ABN/ABR details.

What if I haven't sent via GiveEasy before?

If you haven't sent an SMS/MMS via GiveEasy before that's completely fine!

We ask that you complete the registration form above and simply select 'No' you haven't sent via GiveEasy before and enter your key fundraising contact details. We will then set up your free SMS account and email your key fundraising contact with your new GiveEasy account details.

How long does the registration process take?

The typical processing time is 5-10 business days after submission. However, this may vary depending on the completeness of your application and verification requirements. 

What happens after i submit my application? 

After submission, our team will verify your information and process your application with ACMA. You'll receive email updates on your application status, and contact you if additional information is needed.
